The Scottish-Indian guitarist Samrat Majumder has emerged as one of the most distinctive and promising voices of his generation. His musical formation, forged at some of Europe’s most prestigious institutions, has endowed him with flawless technique and a profound understanding of the art of interpretation. Internationally acclaimed for his excellence, Samrat has been awarded at some of the most important guitar competitions in Europe, including those in Liechtenstein, Iserlohn, Groningen, Sarajevo, and Koblenz, among many others. He is also a winner of the Concert Artists Guild – Young Classical Artists Trust Award, a testament to both his virtuosity and the depth of his artistic vision. His performances blend precision with sensitivity, transforming each work into a story that connects directly with the listener.
Beyond the stage, Samrat’s commitment to education and to promoting the guitar is an essential part of his identity. As co-founder of a foundation dedicated to expanding guitar education in India, he shares his knowledge with new generations, keeping tradition alive while inspiring new paths of discovery.
Samrat was granted the Chrystellia Award at the Hubert Käppel International Guitar Competition 2024 in Koblenz, Germany — a distinction created by the film production companies De Angeles Films, Blue Paper Filmworks, and Tanok Art Productions, in collaboration with GuitarTV World, to highlight and celebrate outstanding young artists.
